What are polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are highly purified DNA fragments, usually extracted from salmon or trout DNA (using only DNA fragments, not cellular material, ensuring high purity and safety).

These fragments have unique biological properties when introduced into the skin:

  • They act as signalling molecules that stimulate the regeneration of skin cells (fibroblasts).
  • They have strong hydrating properties as they bind water molecules in the skin.
  • They have antioxidant properties and protect the skin from free radical damage.
  • They help create an optimal environment for tissue repair and health.

They essentially "wake up" your skin cells and provide them with the building blocks and signals needed to function more youthfully.

Polynucleotides are ideal for individuals who would like a little more from their home skincare but are not ready for more invasive treatments such as fillers or PRP.

How do they work?

Polynucleotide therapy harnesses the natural ability of DNA fragments to trigger and support cell renewal processes.

When polynucleotides are injected into the skin, they activate fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin - proteins essential for maintaining the skin's structure and elasticity.

This helps to maintain a firm skin texture. In addition, polynucleotides have anti-inflammatory effectsto help reduce redness and swelling, promote faster wound healing and recovery from various skin conditions.

Procedure

A local anaesthetic will be offered to reduce discomfort during the procedure. The skin will be cleansed with an antimicrobial solution.

The polynucleotides are then injected by a series of small injections using very fine needles or sometimes a cannula, depending on the area and technique chosen. The procedure usually takes 30-60 minutes. Small bumps at the injection sites are common immediately after the procedure, but usually disappear within a few hours to a day or two.

After the procedure, a soothing antiseptic ointment will be applied.

Which polynucleotide is right for me?

PLINEST EYE

The aim of this treatment is to improve the texture of the periocular (eyelid) skin and evenly reduce sagging of the upper eyelids. When injected correctly, this product causes tightening of the periocular skin without swelling. In a clinical trial, 90 % patients experienced a reduction in fine, superficial wrinkles.

PLINEST

This treatment can improve the texture and elasticity of the skin for a healthier/refreshed appearance. It also helps to reshape areas with high fibre content such as acne scars. The product can be injected into the face and neck. A recent clinical study of this product showed that 91 % patients showed clinical improvement in reducing superficial fine lines and wrinkles.

NEWEST

This treatment is indicated for mature and dehydrated skin and promotes the transformation of stretch marks, scars and skin tropism. It can be injected into the face, neck and décolleté. A recent study showed a significant improvement in overall skin quality and texture.

Key benefits of the procedure

Myths and facts

Polynucleotides are just another type of filler.

Wrong. Fillers add volume immediately. Polynucleotides are biostimulants that improve skin quality and texture over time by stimulating the skin's own cells.

Polynucleotide results are instant.

No, because they work biologically. Initial hydration may be visible early on, but it takes a few weeks to months to see the results of collagen stimulation.

They are made from dangerous parts of fish.

DNA fragments are highly purified and processed in laboratories under strict sterile conditions, removing allergenic proteins. They are considered very safe.

One treatment is enough for full results.

It usually takes 2-4 treatments to establish the biological stimulation needed for optimal and long-lasting results.

Timeline & longevity of results

Polynucleotides work by stimulating the processes inherent to your skin, so you see results gradually:

Initial hydration improvement: Often seen in the first few weeks.

Improved skin quality: Texture, elasticity and fine lines usually improve within 2-3 months as collagen production increases.

Highlights: They are usually visible after the recommended cycle of treatments has been completed.

For optimal results, a zigzag is usually recommendedl 2-4 treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments every 6-9 months can help maintain results.

Frequently asked questions

Which areas of the body can be improved with polynucleotide injections?

  • Under the eyes and periorbital area
  • Forehead and between the eyebrows
  • Nazolabialne gube
  • Around the mouth
  • Door
  • Decolletage
  • Roke

What is the recovery time?

Minimum. Small bumps, redness or possible bruising may appear at the injection sites, which usually disappear within 1-3 days. You can usually resume normal activities quickly.

When should I see the results of polynucleotide therapy?

The results will be visible around 6 to 12 weeks after treatment. This is because these products work at a cellular level over time, rather than acting as dermal fillers that replace lost volume in the short term.

How many treatments do I need?

We recommend three treatments, two to three weeks apart, with a fourth after four months to promote continued improvement. Most patients repeat the procedure every year.

What is the difference between polynucleotides and dermal fillers?

Unlike dermal fillers, which add volume, polynucleotides work at the cellular level to trigger the skin's natural repair processes. This makes polynucleotides ideal for patients seeking natural skin rejuvenation.

Polynucleotides

Primary function: Skin regeneration and renewal
How it works: Stimulates fibroblasts to increase collagen and elastin production
Results: Improved texture, elasticity and natural rejuvenation

Dermal fillers

Primary function: Volume increase
How it works: Adds structural support to specific areas
Results: Improved volume and definition

What is the difference between polynucleotide therapy and Profhila?

Polynucleotide treatment and Profhilo offer different skin rejuvenation benefits.

Profhilo, which contains high concentrations of hyaluronic acid, provides immediate hydration benefits. Patients usually notice an immediate glow and improved skin texture soon after treatment.

Polynucleotides act at a deeper cellular level, stimulate fibroblast activity and promote natural collagen production, with longer-lasting improvements in skin quality due to skin repair and regeneration.

Who is the manufacturer of polynucleotides?

We have chosen Plinest and Newest nucleotides, manufactured by Mastelli, an Italian company founded in 1952. Mastelli has more than 100 publications, all produced in-house. Their fish farms are strictly controlled to ensure the quality and safety of the raw materials.

How do I book a polynucleotide therapy appointment?
