Laser treatments

Laser treatment of erythema (Rosacea) and capillaries

In our clinic, we quickly and effectively treat vascular lesions on any part of the body or face using the Fotona SP Dynamis medical laser.

Vascular changes include telangiectasias, flushing and rosacea, haemangiomas and angiomas...

Which vascular lesions can be removed with a laser?

Laser removal of cherry angiomas (senile angiomas)

Senile angiomas are the most common type of angiomas (benign tumours) that can occur on adult skin.

These usually harmless and painless formations are often bright red (hence the name), but can also be dark red, blue, purple or even black. The colour is due to the small bulging or ruptured blood vessels that form them.

Their appearance can be unsightly and can affect self-confidence, which is why many people choose to have them removed.

In our clinic, we successfully remove cherry angiomas using the state-of-the-art Fotona SP Dynamis medical laser.

Laser removal of redness (rosacea, couperose)

Living with rosacea can be challenging, as it can affect a person's appearance and self-confidence. This common skin disease can cause redness on the face. In some cases it may be barely noticeable, while in others it may appear as aggressive patches with pimples and swelling across the facial skin, eventually causing thickening of the skin and enlargement of the nose.

In our clinic, we remove redness using the state-of-the-art medical laser Fotona SP Dynamis.

Laser removal of "broken capillaries"

Facial veins are usually thread veins, which can also be called spider veins, broken blood vessels, broken capillaries, facial telangiectasias.

They are not usually a cause for medical concern, but they can make patients feel uncomfortable and less confident about their appearance.

Facial veins are red, blue or purple and can appear all over the face, but most commonly on the cheeks, chin, around the nose and under the eyes.

In our clinic, we successfully remove capillaries using the state-of-the-art Fotona SP Dynamis medical laser.

Laser removal of venous lakes

Venous lakes are lesions that usually appear as small dark bluish spots on the edge of the lips, ears, face or neck.

Because a venous lake is so similar in appearance to a melanoma, it is very important to examine them to be sure. They are soft, usually a few millimetres in diameter and may be slightly raised.

Venous lakes can be found in other areas that are exposed to the sun, for example on the back of the hand in older people.

In our clinic, we successfully remove venous lakes using the state-of-the-art medical laser Fotona SP Dynamis.

Laser effect on the veins

AMONG THE ITEMS:

Haemoglobin absorbs the non-invasive laser energy and converts it into heat energy.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PROCEDURE:

The blood coagulates and the vessel wall collapses.

THE WEEKS FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE:
Over time, the vein is reabsorbed by the body and disappears.

Frequently asked questions

Laser treatment for facial veins usually takes 10-15 minutes. Usually 60-120 laser pulses are needed.

It takes three to four weeks for your body to dissolve the veins that have been successfully treated with the laser. Any remaining veins need further treatment.

We recommend waiting four to six weeks to see the full benefit of the first treatment before deciding on further treatments.

The ultimate goal is to achieve immediate results and leave the clinic with no visible veins. This is only possible with some veins.

Many veins will take several weeks to disappear and may look worse before they look better.

Treatment of facial veins likely will not cause any side effectssuch as swelling, bruising and blisters.

Make-up will easily cover most adverse skin reactions that occur.

Tiny blood clots can form in the vein. They usually look like thin blue streaks. Sometimes they will make the vein look darker than it was and you may think the treatment didn't work. These clots are harmless and will disappear in about three weeks along with the vein.

Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen with at least ZF 30 for about 3 days after laser treatment.

Avoid hot baths, saunas and hot tubs for a few days.

Otherwise, there are no restrictions. You can get back to your daily activities straight away.

Ageing, genetics, sun damage, smoking, trauma, heat, alcohol, direct prolonged pressure on the skin, pregnancy, hormones, poor circulation, diet and medication...

Light is absorbed by dark objects and reflected by light objects. For example, a black car gets very hot in the sun, but a white car does not.

In laser treatment, the energy is absorbed by the blood (dark) and reflected by the skin (light). The hot blood damages the vascular wall, causing the vein to contract and close. The skin is unharmed because it has reflected most of the energy.

There is no easy answer to this question, as pain perception and tolerance vary greatly from person to person.

Laser pulses feel like a gust or a prick.

Absolutely not. The wavelength of light that causes skin cancer is in the ultraviolet range of the spectrum. The Nd:YAG laser produces light at the opposite end of the spectrum in the infrared range and should not cause skin cancer.

Veins destroyed by the laser are not restored. Veins that are only damaged may persist.

In the case of rosacea, new veins will develop because laser treatment does not change the underlying condition. Therapies for rosacea are usually repeated every two to five years.

The darker your skin, the more dangerous the laser is for your skin. This is because the melanin in your skin absorbs the laser light and heats your skin.

In most cases, a little tan does not matter. However, in some individuals, this hint of tanning can cause your skin to cross the threshold for burning or pigmentary changes when treating the veins.
