COMPEX Therapy Ljubljana
Electrical muscle stimulation
At the NYD clinic in Ljubljana, we treat all types of injuries and chronic and acute pain resulting from surgery, lifestyle or activity.
Electrical muscle stimulation for better fitness
Physiotherapists use electrotherapy to relieving pain, promoting healing of soft tissue problems or stimulating muscle fibres to activate. The main electrotherapy method used in the NYD physiotherapy clinic to complement our manual approach and exercise prescription is Compex (Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)) therapy.

COMPEX - Electrical muscle stimulation
Muscle stimulation is an artificial way of activating a muscle. If you are recovering from an injury, in the rehabilitation and recovery phase after surgery, or suffering from arthritis, your muscles may start to atrophy (die). Electrical muscle stimulation with COMPEX therapy can be an ideal tool to start you on the road to recovery, as it can stimulate muscles to form, function properly and gain strength without causing the pain of injury or arthritis. Muscle stimulation devices work by mimicking the impulses sent by the brain, causing the muscle to respond (contract and relax) accordingly. In this way, the muscle recovers and improves its performance through the action.
Our professional and highly trained staff can manipulate the frequency of the pulses to provide the following benefits of muscle stimulation:
- Improving the ability to gain muscle
- Increased muscle volume and strength
- Pain relief
- Reduction of swelling

Physiotherapist answers to your questions
Electrical muscle stimulation is therapy that uses electrical impulses to induce muscle contractions, which helps increase muscle strength, improve blood circulation and aid rehabilitation processes.
Yes, when used correctly and under professional guidance, muscle electrical stimulation is safe. However, it should not be used by people with certain medical conditions, such as heart problems or epilepsy.
Electrical stimulation promotes muscle growth and development, but not fat loss. This is usually done through exercise and diet. However, the most effective way to achieve a healthy physique is to combine muscle growth and development (including electrical stimulation) with regular exercise and a balanced diet.
Our patients' opinions
I went to many therapies because of problems with maintaining muscle mass, but at the NYD clinic, my search for electrical stimulation finally ended because I found the right help and the right therapy. A superb service, so I give a good vote for the NYD clinic for anyone who is torn between several options.
With the help of therapies like COMPEX at the NYD clinic, I can take my sporting career to an even higher level than I could otherwise.
Great team, no waiting and a good atmosphere. I RECOMMEND!
Top quality. My muscles can be beautifully tightened and sculpted also thanks to this COMPEX electrostimulation therapy.
