ESWT, or Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, is a a non-invasive treatment method that uses acoustic waves to promote healing and reduce pain in musculoskeletal disorders. It is commonly used for conditions such as plantar fasciitis, tendinopathies and calcified tendonitis. Shock waves stimulate tissue regeneration, increase blood flow and reduce inflammation.

During ESWT, patients may experience mild discomfort or a feeling of pressure in the treated area, but this is extremely rare due to the possibility of adjusting the intensity of the waves. The intensity of the shock waves can be adjusted to ensure that the treatment that is acceptable and effective for each individual. Shock waves are thus not painful if the doctor is trained.

The duration of shock wave therapy (ESWT) is depends on the specific condition being treated and the individual's response. Some individuals may feel an improvement after the first session, while others may need several sessions over a period of a few weeks. It is important to follow the recommended treatment plan and consult a healthcare professional for an accurate assessment of progress.
