Gynaecological examination

A gynaecological examination once a year is usually enough if there are no additional problems.
Regular gynaecological check-ups are important because even the smallest changes that indicate a disease of the reproductive system can be spotted in time and therefore treated and cured quickly and successfully.

Investigations in pregnancy

Pregnancy check-ups are an integral part of a pregnant woman's life throughout her pregnancy.
For most pregnant women, these are happy moments, a time of sweet anticipation before every antenatal check-up, when they can use our technology to get an impression of the actual state of growth and development of the foetus and, above all, to get confirmation that everything is fine with the baby.

PAP test - cervical smear

As a complement to a gynaecological examination, you can have a PAP test, which is a routine and non-invasive test.
It is mainly used for the early detection of cervical cancer and premalignant lesions by cytological analysis of cervicovaginal swabs.

Gynaecological ultrasound

Gynaecological ultrasound most commonly complements a routine gynaecological examination, but it is recommended to have it at a regular gynaecological examination in the first phase of the cycle, as it can detect certain changes that are not clinically detectable.
It is a non-invasive, safe and effective diagnostic test that uses high-frequency sound waves to visualise the female reproductive organs and structures in the pelvis.

Insertion/removal of an intrauterine device (IUD)

Candidates for IUD insertion are women seeking a long-lasting contraceptive method. The IUD is recommended for women who already have children and want a reliable method of contraception, as well as for women who have not yet given birth.

Colposcopy

Colposcopy is most often performed when certain abnormalities are found in a previously performed PAP test, so that it actually serves as a diagnostic complement to the cytology (PAP test) to confirm the results.

If the gynaecologist already detects suspicious areas and mucosal abnormalities during the colposcopic examination, a targeted biopsy is usually performed from the suspicious area - a tissue sample is taken and sent for further pathohistological analysis.

When to have a gynaecological check-up?

The ideal time for a gynaecological examination is the eighth to twelfth day of the menstrual cycle.

At the gynaecological examination, the gynaecologist will tell you when your next check-up should be after reviewing your medical history and the results obtained.

 

We recommend more frequent gynaecological examinations for the following problems: if you notice changes in menstrual bleeding (frequency, abundance, pain), lower abdominal pain, increased vaginal discharge and abnormal PAP test results.

More frequent check-ups are also needed if you are on hormone therapy, have a IUD and are pregnant.
